Oshima 2017 Day 3

3rd October 2017, Tuesday.

Hey guys!

Today is Day 3 of our trip!

Bright and early in the morning, after our breakfast, arrangement was made for us to visit an orange plantation located just a stone's throw away from the school. There, we were able to pick and choose our own oranges and ate there on the spot! But before that... We had to take photos with T.S Oshima Maru! We also packed our luggages and shifted them over from the Guest House to the vessel because tonight will be spent sleeping in the cabins of the beautiful training ship!

Afterwards, we boarded the bus which took us to Hiroshima, where we visited the Peace Memorial Museum, which includes the history of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing that took place during World War II. 

Before we reached, we had our lunch at a pit stop area, which is paid for, courtesy of Oshima College! We could order anything we liked with a maximum cap of 1,500 yen per person. We are extremely grateful and we appreciate it very much! Thank you.

It was a solemn visit to the museum as we learnt about the bombings held in Nagasaki as well as Hiroshima during the World War II. Our hearts go out to those who were gravely affected by the bombings, so much as we decided to sign the petition located in the museum itself, which called for the stop of using nuclear weapons. We also learnt that the Japanese students will visit the museum on school field trips during their junior high school days. It is truly amazing to see how much Japan has grown to become one of the leading countries with advanced technology in the 21st century!

After the visit to the museum, we were then given free time to roam around Hiroshima to do some shopping/sightseeing on our own! 

It was indeed a fun filled day with many activities! Tomorrow, we would be setting sail on board T.S Oshima Maru to Shimonoseki! Hence, after shopping and sightseeing, we proceeded to the bus which took us back to Oshima College where the Japanese students returned to their dorms. On the other hand, we were dropped off near the dock where Oshima Maru was situated. Our first night on board the training ship begins here and we are filled with excitement :)
