DAY 4

Rise and shine!!

We started our day with some light stretches and exercises. These helped wake us up and prepare us for the day ahead.

Oshima Ohashi Bridge

As we were leaving Oshima and heading towards Hiroshima, we took a picture with Oshima's iconic bridge, Oshima Ohashi Bridge.

Abandon Ship Drill

We learned how to use the emergency life jackets located under the stairs in each cabin.

Navigation Bridge

Today, we had everyone go around the Oshima Maru and take a look at the engine control room, the deck and the bridge! We had the opportunity to try out the items provided at the bridge which was breathtaking! On the bridge, we saw binoculars, a gyroscope, charts, and the steering wheel with rudder angle indicators.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

Today we arrived at Hiroshima! We went to visit the Hiroshima peace memorial park which was truly amazing to see. All the items that were displayed since the Hiroshima bomb tragedy, the stories of the survivors of the initial bomb attack, and the experiences they had was something that opened our eyes. We got to learn more about Japan's rich history. Afterwards, we visited the souvenirs store and also took a group photo with everybody!

    Departure from Hiroshima

For me (archana), my group was in the engine room. I started in the Engine Control Room (ECR) then went to the Engine Room. In the ECR, we had to conduct gear tests in sequence. there was a programme to show the sequence. Once complete, the tasks are checked off the monitor. In the Engine Room, we saw the propeller rotating and conducted a few tests as well. It was very loud and hot, but I enjoyed the experience.
