Last Day In Singapore

With the arrival of SuperStar Gemini back in Singapore, we picked up the Oshima students and brought them to the airport, where they would be flying off soon

It's always sad saying goodbye but I hope you guys enjoyed Singapore as much as we enjoyed Japan!

Maybe we'll meet again one day in the future with the experiences that we went through together still fresh in our hearts.

Let's never forget the memories made and the friendships forged

すんごい!

Day 4 in Singapore

With not much time before the SuperStar Gemini left port, we all rushed to HarbourFront Centre early in the morning.

We took a group photo before we bade our first goodbye to the Oshima students. Only one of the SMA students, Guan Qi, would be joining them this time. Enjoy yourself Guan Qi!

Till the last day

Day 3 in Singapore!

With their final day to roam Singapore, we decided to indulge them in every Singaporean's favourite pastime.

Shopping!

With that, we went to Bugis Street to look for some souvenirs to bring back to Japan. The Oshima students were thoroughly unamused with the crowd they had to face on that Saturday afternoon :D

The Oshima students, determined for the best deals, scoured the mall for the perfect souvenirs. They were not going to leave empty-handed!

Ft. Mitsuhiro with a dragonfruit

After leaving Bugis Street filled with bags of souvenirs, we headed to Orchard!

Sadly, the shops here were not within our budget so we made do with a high quality meal at KFC (we were desperate)

We were even entertained by a concert that was happening on the road! The musicians were really great.

Many thanks to Xin Wei who took many of our group shots :D
After dinner, the group split into two, with some going up the observatory deck at Marina Bay Sand while the rest would be at Marina Bay.

While Mitsuhiro, Akito and Taiki enjoyed the cool breeze and resplendent view of the bay...

Ryusei, Naoki, Kiyotaka, Masaki and Shoki enjoyed the birds-eye-view of the city

After we merged back, we went to the Merlion! The Japanese were really happy that they finally managed to see it spout water up close

With that, another day ended and it was time to say goodbye once again. Though it was short, we managed to have lots of fun within these 2 days.

Till the next day!

Day 2 in Singapore!

We all woke up bright and early, eager to face the upcoming day.

We started the activities by bringing the students to the engine simulator located in the Singapore Maritime Academy building. They were in awe of how we used technology to overcome our limitations in our pursuit of knowledge.

Mr. Nuang was there to explain to the Oshima students about how the simulator worked!

After a tour of the engine room, we made our way to the meeting room to meet the Director of the Singapore Maritime Academy, Mr. Roland Tan, who was to have a short talk with the students.

After sharing a few anecdotes of his time in Japan, the Director presented Dr. Yoriko Ishida with a small gift from the Singapore Maritime Academy!

After the talk, we made our way to Sentosa. The Oshima students were amazed that our Circle Line trains were driverless and that you could see the tunnels ahead!

We walked to Sentosa using the boardwalk and took many group photos taking advantage of the good view! The sun was shining brightly with no dark cloud in sight. It was going to be a great time at the Universal Studios Singapore.

We didn't miss the opportunity to take a picture in front of the spinning globe either! We were all ready to go and enjoy ourselves in the amusement park. Sadly, we were all disappointed with the news that Cylon and Human, the twin roller-coasters, were still closed..... Regardless, we had the time of our lives on the mummy ride and the water show!

The Oshima students always became very excited whenever they saw a powerful car, so much that they couldn't wait to get onto the Transformers ride!

After a fun-filled day at the Universal Studios Singapore, we went to Mr. Nuang's place for a poolside BBQ!

The food was great and the company was fantastic. The Oshima students really loved satay! Ryusei also entertained us with his b-boy skills that were すんごい~

Sadly, it was getting late and we had to end the festivities. We all really enjoyed the BBQ! With out stomachs full and appetites satiated, we made our way back to the dorms, ready for a good night's sleep.

Till the next day!

Day 1 in Singapore!

The day had finally arrived

Our friends from Oshima were coming to Singapore!

After a long journey from Japan, the Oshima students arrived in Singapore late at night, excited for what our island had in store for them

They were all in awe of the sights they could see while on the bus to Singapore Polytechnic!

They were especially excited when we passed by the Marina Bay Sands and they were all clamouring to take photos of the superstructure before it disappeared from our sight

すんごい!

They stayed in the teacher's dorms while in the campus and we were all disappointed that we would not be bunking together like at Oshima :(

Nonetheless, we were all excited for the days ahead!

Till the next day!

Day 6

Morning exercise really gets us fresh and active early in the morning!

Our last meal on Oshima Maru....

Chief Mate supervising Rasyad to ensure a smooth sail

The training cruise was really great and we all learned a lot from it. Thank you for the opportunity!

The weather in Oshima really set the mood for our last day in Japan

We're all going to miss Oshima College terribly when we're back in Singapore....

JUMP JUMP JUMP

The Oshima students woke up really early with us to send us off! It was a really sad goodbye but we were confident that we would see each other soon.

Sorry Yosuke!
The one week we spent in Oshima was really fantastic. We got to know each other better and did not let any language barrier stop us from forging meaningful friendships. We had fun, joked around and learnt many things. We showed our best while on the training cruise and did not make any amateurish mistakes. All of us here in Singapore miss Japan and we can't wait for you guys to come here soon. See you all next March!

Day 5

We woke up early in the morning for our morning exercise! It's important to stretch our bodies ( ̄∠ ̄ )ノ

We even had natto, i.e. fermented soybeans, for breakfast! Shinn and Masaki were really happy about that because the rest of us gave them our boxes of natto.

We headed off to JRCS for a tour of their plant! It was an eye-opening experience, being able to see how they assembled the machinery that we would later use on a ship.

After the tour, we had lunch at a restaurant which specialised in puffer fish! It was an adventurous lunch.

We made our way to a temple, ready to immerse ourselves in the essence of Japanese culture.

???????????
Washing our hands, as taught to us by Yosuke

Shinn saying a silent prayer. Masaki is enthralled.

After that soul-searching experience, we proceeded to lose some calories by ascending the hill to reach the cable-car at the top.

An authentic picture of 4 Japanese people in the past. Don't they look so lifelike?

In we go!

Up we go!

Here we go! The view from the top was really breathtaking.

Captain Raj showing off some cannons from his personal collection.

Desperate for some ice-cream

Yosuke then led us on a ferry ride to the city located on the opposite side, Kitakyushu!

Guan Qi possessing the swag we all desire

From Kitakyushu we took a train to Kokura, a city further down in the island of Kyushu. Japanese trains are really cool!

The way the tickets are priced really eludes me though. Kokura really reminded us of Singapore, with all the malls located around the train station.

Another commemorative photo

There's always time for supper no? Sadly our time in Shimonoseki was coming to and end and we would be setting off for Oshima tomorrow morning.

To the next day!
